The International Olympic Committee (IOC) controls all 'amateur' sporting matters throughout the world. The IOC delegates matters relating to Swimming to the Federation International de Natation et Aquatique in Geneva (FINA). Swimming in Britain is under the control of the Great Britain Amateur Swimming Federation (ASFGB). In England, the Amateur swimming Association (ASA) based in Loughborough are the organising body.
