The needs of a developing swimmer in training should be met by a balanced quality diet. There is no need to consider supplements, which may contain inappropriate formulae.

Both the ASA and HDSC take very seriously the use of performance enhancing drugs. We are also entirely opposed to the use of anything that is not prescribed by a doctor. If you suffer from Asthma or any other condition that requires extended mediaction you need to complete a Medical declaration form (available from the Membership Officer).

It is NEVER acceptable to take anything to make you swim faster or longer. You risk being banned from ALL sport, not just swimming, if you do. Taking something 'by accident' is not accepted as an excuse.

Be sure that what you eat, drink or breathe is safe - many common cold symptom relief preparations contain banned substances. Seek advice from us before taking anything that might be suspect. If you go abroad, ensure that what you buy in the UK is the same overseas.
